Classification & Compensation
The Office of Classification and Compensation is responsible for maintaining fair and equitable classifications and administering the classification and compensation plans. We strive to provide market-competitive compensation programs that attract, retain and motivate qualified employees.
We are responsible for designing, implementing, revising, and maintaining the City of Baltimore compensation programs, classification systems, pay structures, job analysis, and evaluation; along with interpreting and implementing the City of Baltimore, federal, state, and local policies and regulations.
The Office of Classification and Compensation ensures that classifications are appropriately titled and graded through conducting market analyses, surveys, and obtaining information from external resources.
